Lijiang, previously unknown to the public, has risen to become an international tourist city renowned at home and abroad.

He Yaoxin, director of the Lijiang tourism bureau, said that Lijiang is endowed with marvelous tourism resources, including Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the highest mountain in the Northern Hemisphere; Laojun Mountain, the largest and highest Danxia landform area in China; the Old Town of Lijiang, one of the best preserved ancient towns in China; Shigu town; Tiger Leaping Gorge; and Lugu Lake.

Located in the intersection of the Tibetan-Yi Corridor and Ancient Tea Horse Road, Lijiang is distinguished for its unique culture.

As He introduced, the various traditional festivals in Lijiang also represent its rich folk culture, such as the ethnic Yi's Torch Festival, ethnic Pumi’s Wuxi Festival and ethnic Lisu's Kuoshi Festival.

As for the songs and dances, there are Naxi dances like the Alili and Dongba dance, the Mosuo people's Jiacuo dance and the ethnic Yi's Husheng dance.

He continued: "We always believe in 'people-oriented' and 'tourists first' during our daily tourism management. The Lijiang tourist distributing center and tourist information center have become Lijiang's largest 'tourism supermarket', where tourists can get what they need in one stop, including tourism information, tour group and ticket booking, and transfer services."

As one of the world’s three major heritage cities, Lijiang integrates the majestic Three Parallel Rivers, the tranquil and graceful ancient city with a history of over 1,000 years, and the mysterious ancient Dongba Literature. Its miraculous snow mountains, precipitous alpine valleys, attractive lakes and wetlands, time-honored historic culture, and unique national customs constitute the imposing and picturesque natural scenery of Lijiang.
