Driving tours of Lijiang, in Yunnan province are becoming more popular among car owners, especially when the flowers are in bloom in spring and they can drive along vast stretches of grassland and enjoying the picturesque, idyllic landscape of northwestern Yunnan and relaxing by themselves.

With that in mind, here are some tips for a driving tour of Lijiang:

Lijiang sits on a plateau, with a lot of strong sunshine, so, parasols, sun hats, sun glasses, and sun cream (SPF50) to protect against the sunshine are something you shouldn't miss.

Also, various gadgets, such as cell phone, camera, chargers and navigators are helpful, and walkie-talkies if you come with a group. And don't forget your driving license and ID card.

Also, take enough cash because credit cards are not so popular in the Lijiang area, nor are ATMs, except for in the old town and new town.

Check your vehicle for performance, tire pressure, braking, and ABS and before setting out.

Lijiang sits at a high altitude so people may experience some altitude sickness, so, in addition to the usual first-aid, some oxygen bottles and mineral water are helpful.

And temperature can changes dramatically in a day, so bring a sweater and heavy coat.
