Lijiang to cooperate with South Korean company on tourism

Lijiang city in Yunnan province will cooperate with South Koreas CJ Corporation on culture and tourism, according to a meeting held in Lijiang on May 24.

Luo Jie, the Party chief of Lijiang city, met with a delegation led by Park Keun Tae, president of the Chinese subsidiary of CJ Corporation, to discuss cooperation between the Lijiang and CJ.

Luo briefed Park on Lijiang's economic development and said that as tourism has become Lijiang’s leading industry, it has developed a new model combining culture and tourism to continue to attract visitors.

Luo said he hoped that Lijiang would cooperate with CJ Corporation on cultural industry, and tourism infrastructure and products.

Park spoke highly of Lijiang, saying that it's an ideal place to live and invest. CJ is seeking cooperative opportunities with Lijiang.

CJ Corporation, founded in 1953, is the largest multinational food enterprise in South Korea. It boasts a global lifestyle culture and comprises numerous businesses in the industries of food and food services, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, entertainment and media, home shopping and logistics.

Since CJ Entertainment arrived in China in July 2005, it has been introducing outstanding Korean film and TV content to the Chinese public through theater, DVDs and TV channels. In addition to introducing Korean content to China, CJ E&M is endeavoring to develop content by and for Chinese people.

In addition, CJ plans to jointly distribute the outstanding traditional performances or musicals of China in Korean and global markets. Since June 2009 Mnet Media, in association with CJ, has been supplying programs to CCTV’s digital music channel for one hour from 8 pm every night. Also, CJ is planning a variety of performances including a joint concert by Korean and Chinese singers.

CJ‘s CGV was the first company in Korea to introduce a multiplex theater and is now the No. 1 theater operator in that country. It has entered the Chinese market on the basis of operational know-how.
