Lijiang held a rural tourism c meeting as a Fifth Yunnan-Taiwan Expo activity on June 11. A variety of personages in tourist circles spoke about how to promote travel to the village of Lijiang.
Ma Yingchun, deputy director of the Yunnan Provincial Tourism Development Commission, noted that Yunnan has developed eight pillars of rural tourism including resources, history, culture and location.

He Chunlei, executive vice mayor of Lijiang, said tourism is Lijiang’s leading industry and rural tourism plays a crucial role in its development. The meeting was meant to stimulate tourism both in Lijiang’s rural areas and other regions.
Lin Shaojie, secretary general of the Taiwan Rural Tourism Association, introduced Taiwan’s development plans for rural tourism and suggested constructing a school to further the Yunnan-Taiwan rural tourism connection.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) period, Yunnan set a tourism development goal of building 100 counties and 300 villages with ethnic characteristics while revamping 60 towns and 350 villages.
