Over 20 Lijiang journalists visited the city's Yulong county, a destitute area, on Oct 25 to interview local residents about their poverty alleviation stories.

The journey was organized by the Lijiang's Journalists’ Association for the upcoming 17th Journalists' Day, one of China's three occupational festivals, the others being Nurses' Day and Teachers' Day.

The county, Yunnan's poverty alleviation center, is comprised of three poor towns and 13 low income villages.

"Yulong county has made a targeted plan for each low income family that complements or adds to their livelihood," said Yang Junxin, member of the standing committee of Lijiang county’s Party committee.

The interviews are to last for three days with the journalists visiting seven counties, including Jiuhe county and Shitou county, and one office.
