Lijiang commences nine projects worth $349m

Lijiang Old Town held its fourth working commencement ceremony this year, involving nine projects, on Nov 20.

The projects, pertaining to city infrastructure construction, commerce and trade circulation improvement and industrial development, mean an investment of 2.4 billion yuan ($349 million).

"The projects started today are the economic aggregates of tomorrow," said Yang Sheng, district mayor of the Old Town. He added that the construction companies should ensure both the high efficiency and quality of the project construction.

A local water disposal company said that Lijiang's water supply system has seen great improvement in recent years.

The company itself now has a daily capacity for tap water treatment of 90,000 square meters and for polluted water of 50,000 tons, greatly improving the domestic water usage situation for local people.

The 2016 plan is to invest 71 million yuan to improve Lijiang's urban construction.
