The Third Lijiang International Contemporary Literature Forum opened in Lijiang in Southwest China’s Yunnan province from Dec 7-10.
Some 35 writers, critics, journal chief editors and publishers from around the world gathered to discuss the development of literature and the integration of Lijiang culture and tourism industries.
The forum will dwell upon the similarities and differences of literature from different countries through a series of sub-forums and workshops, including "writing and me", "good books and literature" and "poetry and Lijiang".
The forum is intended to publicize Lijiang's literary culture and Lijiang Old Town by bringing together all aspects of literary production.
A large-scale poetry recitation and folk song evening party is scheduled for Nov 8 in the city’s Shuhe old town.
Luo Jie, Party secretary of Lijiang, joined the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech. Luo said that Lijiang is located in the joint junction of Yunnan, Sichuan and the Tibet autonomous region and is one of the most culturally rich areas in China.
The first literature forum held in Lijiang in December 2014 was China's most influential one that year, as a Nobel Prize winner in literature, Jean Marie Gustave Le Clézio, was present.
The second one was equally successful with over 30 million hits on its live webcast of profound and heated discussions among leading foreign and domestic writers.
