Lijiang composer performs erhu concert in Ancient Town

He Zhong, composer and director of the Lijiang Ethnic Arts Creation and Research Institute, performed a concert of his original compositions in Lijiang's Ancient Town on the evening of May 5.

The concert featured the erhu, a traditional Chinese fiddle, combined with pipa (Chinese lute), bamboo flute, piano and violin. Audiences were touched by the beauty sounds of the unique ensemble of traditional and modern instruments.

In addition to works composed by He Zhong, the concert included Blue Moon, He's original arrangement of famous music of the Naxi ethnic group. His composition Beautiful White Cloud, featuring a mixed Naxi chorus, won a national award issued by China's Ministry of Culture.
