Lijiang to be on screen at Venice film festival

The city of Lijiang, Yunnan province, will be featured in an exhibition and promotion of the world's most beautiful shooting locations during the 74th Venice International Film Festival from Sept 2 to 3.

The exhibition will be the highlight of a "Focus on China", part of the official program of the Venice International Film Festival. The natural scenery, cultural heritage, local customs and profound ethnic cultures of Lijiang will be presented to the world through the exhibition.

Lijiang has long attracted domestic film companies and renowned film directors, such as Zhang Yimou, to shoot here the city's beautiful natural landscape and rich historical culture. Famous films and TV dramas, including Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles, One Meter Sunlight and Legend of Mu Fu Mansion, were all shot in Lijiang.

Lijiang has developed into a world famous tourism site over the past 30 years from a once unknown small town. Lijiang received about 35.2 million tourists from home and abroad in 2016.

Founded in 1932, the Venice International Film Festival is the world’s oldest film festival. The 74th Venice International Film Festival is scheduled to be held this year from Aug 30 to Sept 9.
