Lijiang seeks to improve tourist industry

A forum was held in Lijiang on Jan 5 which gathered tourist companies and associations from Zhejiang, Shandong, Qinghai and Guizhou to discuss the development of the city's tourist industry.

Liu Jiachen, deputy secretary of Lijiang Municipal Committee of the CPC, said that the forum revolves around the theme "beauty of harmony", and aims to deepen understanding and awareness of Lijiang culture and draw more attention to the city's plentiful tourist sites.

A round table meeting was organized to discuss how to promote Lijiang's local culture and enhance the beauty of its tourist attractions.

The Tourism Development Committee of Lijiang signed an agreement with the tourism bureau of Xining, capital of Qinghai province, with the goal of strengthening cooperation and support on both sides. The Lishui Jinsha Performance Co Ltd is also cooperating with Yunmei Tourism Holdings Co Ltd on the development of tourist resources.

Xu Ganlin, president of Yunmei Tourism Holdings Co Ltd and the chief organizer of the forum, said that as messengers for culture, tourist companies should strive to spread Lijiang's excellent national culture and increase awareness of the city.

"The tourist industry will never be perfect, but we should still strive to make it as good as we can." Xu added that the idea of "beauty of harmony" will redefine the city and its culture and build Lijiang into a world-class tourist destination.
