Lijiang's tourism revenue is expected to reach 73 billion yuan ($11.3 billion) in 2017, a growth of 20 percent year-on-year.

He Shiyong of the Lijiang Tourism Development Committee offered the information at the 2018 National Tourism Working Conference held in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province on Jan 8.

The city is estimated to have welcomed 40.47 million tourists in 2017, a 15 percent increase from the previous year.

However, with Lijiang city gaining in fame and embracing a growing number of visitors for its sound ecological environment and characteristic culture, local surveillance and services have apparently been unable to satisfy the visitors' requirements.

Shops and tourist agencies have received mountains of complaints and refund requests for price gouging and other false claims.

The government has taken measures such as training, patrolling and rectification to hopefully regulate the tourist market, which so far have yielded good results.

He noted that Lijiang will intensify inspection of the tourism market and raise the service quality to welcome more tourists.
