Demao village used to be a traditional coal mining area in Huaping county. Due to the coal extraction, it caused serious environmental pollution and soil erosion to the area.

Nowadays, the villagers have succeeded in planting mangoes on coal gangues, which has not only improved the ecological environment, but has also increased their incomes.
