Two community center projects in Antigua and Barbuda, which were undertaken by POWERCHINA, were rated as "excellent" China-aided projects, as well as received the project quality acceptance certificate from the Ministry of Commerce and the design supervision company on Oct 12.
The expert acceptance team commissioned by the Ministry of Commerce inspected the actual construction of the project, held an acceptance meeting to listen to the relevant reports of the construction units and the supervision units, as well as checked relevant information in detail.
The community center project is the first Chinese aid project implemented by POWERCHINA in the Americas. The project officially started on Nov 30, 2018. It constructed two medical community centers in Saint John and Saint Philip, including a community clinic, a community service center, a corresponding office and supporting facilities, as well as internal roads. The total construction area of the two communities totals 2,937.4 square meters.
The project was completed on Aug 10 and was highly recognized by the Chinese Embassy in Antigua and Barbuda, as well as the local government. It will be put into use soon.
Gaston Browne, prime minister of Antigua and Barbuda, led a group of government leaders, medical experts, and media members on an on-site tour of the two community centers. He said that POWERCHINA's efficient construction and management under the global COVID-19 epidemic situation is a precious gift to Antigua and Barbuda, and that the two centers will greatly improve the public health and medical situation of the country.
The completion and use of the two medical community centers will provide various services for residents in Saint John and Saint Philip, including public health services, outpatient services, emergency and referral services, diagnosis and treatment technology, inspections, drug services, rehabilitation services, dental services, as well as heart disease diagnosis and treatment services. They can also undertake medical treatment tasks on nearby islands, so that local residents can enjoy more high-quality and comprehensive medical services.
