Two youth centers in Namibia start construction

Construction of the two youth centers in the country of Namibia in Southwest Africa, recently broke ground, being undertaken by Sinohydro Bureau 11 Co, a subsidiary of POWERCHINA.

With a total construction area of 6,000 square meters, the Zambezi Youth Training Center will feature seven single buildings. The project will involve 10,500 sq m of earth excavation, 14,500 sq m of backfill, 1,874 sq m of concrete construction, 180 metric tons of steel bars and 90 tons of steel structures.

The second center will feature 12 single buildings and some outdoor roads, with a total construction area of about 5,000 sq m.

It will involve 11,500 sq m of earth excavation, 1,950 sq m of rock and soil excavation, 15,500 sq m of backfill, 2,500 sq m of concrete construction, 110 metric tons of steel bars and 155 tons of steel structures.

After their completion, the centers will have workshops that offer practical training in various types of work. They are expected to greatly increase employment of local residents and contribute to the region's economic development.

After it won the competitive tender for the projects, Sinohydro Bureau 11 Co then selected capable personnel and overcame numerous difficulties.

Against the backdrop of an extremely arduous situation that was complicated by the global COVID-19 epidemic, the contractor started construction on time according to the requirements of the owners.
