The project was built by SELCOL Corporation, a subsidiary of POWERCHINA.

The president said he attended the handover ceremony for the center not long ago and that this was a great project that would train more agricultural technicians for Burundi.

It would showcase China's depth of knowledge in planting, cultivating and processing of agricultural products and greatly enhance the localization of Burundi's grain seeds, he added.

Starting construction in June, 2018, the project was completed in May, 2020. It covers a total area of 12.5 hectares and has a total construction area of about 3,430 square meters.

It includes an office and living area, a planting demonstration area, breeding demonstration area and an agricultural product processing area.

Based on the standards of the China Agricultural Demonstration Center, the project aims to provide Burundi with an agricultural technology demonstration facility that meets the needs of local agricultural development.

It will also promote China's advanced agrarian expertise through agricultural technology demonstrations.

In addition, it will also improve Burundi's agricultural technology levels and increase its agrarian production, as well as meet the office, training and living needs of the center's students and managers.
