Miramar Wind Farm in Argentina starts operation

The 29 wind turbines of the Miramar Wind Farm in Argentina were all connected to the grid for power generation on Nov 14 and were certified by the National Electricity Wholesale Market on Nov 26.

It marked the project's officially start of commercial operation, with the facility successfully hooking up to the SADI system of Argentina's national grid.

Built by POWERCHINA, the Miramar Wind Farm is located to the northwest of coastal city of Miramar in Buenos Aires province, with a total installed capacity of 98.6 megawatts.

It includes 29 wind turbines, each with an installed capacity of 3.4 MW, as well as a 132 kilovolt booster station.

The project was impacted by the COVID-19 epidemic. He said it faced unprecedented challenges such as tight schedules and severe disruptions to personnel.

The POWERCHINA project department organized the resumption of work and production, while ensuring epidemic prevention and control, in strict accordance with the requirements of the Chinese Embassy in Argentina, the Chinese Enterprises Association in Argentina and POWERCHINA.

During the construction of the project, nearly 600 jobs were created.

The wind farm will contribute to the city's tax revenue, effectively promote local economic development, reduce carbon emissions and promote the optimization of Argentina's energy system.

It is the sixth project completed and put into production by POWERCHINA in Argentina, and POWERCHINA will continue to expand in the Argentine market and contribute to local development.
