Four POWERCHINA plants win Asian Power Awards

Four power stations constructed by by SEPCOIII -- a subsidiary of POWERCHINA -- recently won prizes at the Asian Power Awards 2020, run by prestigious industry magazine Asian Power.

The Kyaukse 145 megawatt Gas-fired Power Project in Myanmar won the gold award for the Fast-Track Power Plant of the Year and the Natural Gas-Fired Power Project of the Year.

The Rizhao Kaidi 1×30 MW Biomass Cogeneration Project won the gold award for the Biomass Power Project of the Year.

The 1,519 MW Ibri Gas-fired Power Plant and the Sohar 1,718 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plant in Oman won the bronze award for the Gas Power Project of the Year.

The Kyaukse 145 MW Gas-fired Power Project is located in Kyaukse town, about 30 kilometers south of Mandalay city, in Myanmar.

On April 9, 2019, the project completed all its performance tests. The completion of the power plant has solved the problem of chronic electricity shortages in the region.

Located in National Timber Trade and Processing Demonstration Zone in Rizhao, Shandong province, the Rizhao Kaidi 1×30 MW Biomass Cogeneration Project is an economical and environmentally friendly clean energy power station.

Having been put into operation on Nov 3, 2020, the power station's annual power generation is estimated at more than 225 million kilowatt hours.

The Ibri Gas-fired Power Plant in Oman had improved local employment and boosted the local economy.

The power station started operating in May last year. It alleviated the urgent need for electricity for the economic development and growing population of the surrounding areas.
