Shadow puppets have the nickname of “Father of Movies”. Their puppet shows are one of the traditional plays in China. They date back to the Western Han Dynasty (202 BC - AD 24), and became popular during the Tang and Song dynasties. Shaanxi is the birthplace of the shadow puppets, where there are hundreds of traditional plays and dozens of singing patterns.
