Paper Cut-outs
Paper cut-outs are quite popular in Shaanxi countries. When festivals or celebrations arrive, countrymen stick paper cut-outs on doors or windows to celebrate. Paper cut-outs have a variety of forms, and their pattern is often attached to folklore and mystic stories.
Shadow Puppets
Shadow puppets have the nickname of “Father of Movies”. Their puppet shows are one of the traditional plays in China. They date back to the Western Han Dynasty (202 BC - AD 24), and became popular during the Tang and Song dynasties. Shaanxi is the birthplace of the shadow puppets, where there are hundreds of traditional plays and dozens of singing patterns.
