In response to the arrival of the first snowstorm in Jinan this year, traffic police in the city have launched an emergency plan to cope with the severe weather. The entire police troop has mobilized to ensure safe and smooth traffic flow in the city.
Jinan traffic police are asking citizens to stay at home and reduce outdoor activities in the snowy weather, adding if they have to go outdoors, they should wear shoes or boots that are skid-proof, and bright-colored jackets.
When crossing streets, pedestrians should check and see if there are vehicles coming towards them, and ensure there’s enough time to cross the road. Children and the elderly should be accompanied by adults and supported by holding hands, Jinan traffic police advised.
The traffic police also suggested reducing the use of motorcycles, electric bikes and bicycles; if people must ride them, they should at least get off and push their bikes when going downhill or coming across sharp bends.
Drivers were warned to slow down and keep a safe distance from other vehicles, as well as stay in their lanes, not overtake other vehicles, not park arbitrarily, and avoid the abuse of horns.
