Laizhou Huachuang Wind Energy, a unit of China Creative Wind Energy Co., started construction of a wind turbine plant in Shandong province, according to a statement from local authorities.
The first phase of the 1.5-billion yuan ($221 million) factory will produce 600 sets of 3-megawatt wind turbines, China Creative Wind Energy said on its website. The plant will also make 5-megawatt turbines in its second phase.
China Creative Wind Energy, which is supplying 1.5-megawatt wind turbines to China Datang Corp.’s four wind projects in Shandong province, has three other plants, in Shenyang, Qingdao and Tongliao cities.
The municipal government of Laizhou announced the start of construction for the Shandong facility in an Aug. 19 statement on its website.
