2010-09-06

September 3rd marks the 65th anniversary of China's victory in its war of resistance against Japanese aggression and as well as victory in World War Two. People across the country are observing the day with celebrations.

In Beijing, an exhibition called "Victory Belongs to the People", is being held at the National Art Museum of China. Nearly 100 works are on display, giving a full view of the war.

93-year-old artist Wang Qi came to the exhibition with his work created in 1944.

Wang said, "During the hardest time of the war, the Japanese army invaded Guilin city. Many refugees from Guilin came to Chongqing City. I created this work in Chongqing. We have experienced the war, we know how hard it is."

Meanwhile, in Taierzhuang, in East China's Shandong province, site of a critical battle, thousands of visitors gathered in the Memorial Hall, to remember the historic moment.

A visitor said, "I came here to commemorate the great battle of 1938. The victory of the battle greatly encouraged China's troops and its people to fight against the Japanese invaders."

And nearby in the city of Zaozhuang, the base of famous railway guerillas, more than 600 students dedicated a wreath to the victims and heroes of the war.
