Trade deals worth 20.1 billion yuan were signed at the 2010 Autumn Sugar and Alcohol Fair that ended Oct 11 in Jinan, the capital city of Shandong province.
Enterprises from more than 20 countries and regions showcased their products at the four-day fair that attracted more than 300,000 people seeking new business opportunities.
To meet the demand of import-based enterprises, an international zone was earmarked to exhibit wine, spirit and inbound foods. Fair organizers said 70 percent of the pavilions at the international zone were run by overseas exhibitors, indicating the increasing global reach of the annual sugar and alcohol fair.
"The fair has brought huge benefits to related sectors in Jinan, presenting total revenues of 3.82 billion yuan,” Chen Xianyun, the vice mayor of Jinan, said.
The sugar and alcohol fair is held twice a year, in the spring and fall. The 2011 Spring Sugar and Alcohol Fair will be held in Chengdu in Sichuan province.
