The Tianyu Museum of Nature located in Pingyi county of Shandong Province opened in 2004. It applied for a Guinness World Record in early June and received the confirmation Monday.
Covering an exhibition space of 28,000 square meters, the museum houses 1100 dinosaur specimens that are all represented by almost complete skeletons. Moreover, the museum also has tens of thousands of other prehistoric fauna, such as birds and fish fossils.
Before the new record, the museum had five other world records, including the longest silicified (means it was converted to silica) wood fossil and the biggest amethyst cave.
