JINAN - Police in east China's Shandong Province have broken up a drug manufacturing and trafficking ring, and arrested scores of suspects, local authorities said Monday.
More than 40 suspects from across the country have been arrested by Jinan police for trafficking and manufacturing marijuana and chemical drugs, K2 and gamma hydroxy butyrate (GHB).
GHB, a new type of narcotics found in China, is an odorless and colorless liquid and can act as a depressant on the central nervous system. GHB can cause euphoria, amnesia, drowsiness and dizziness, police said.
The two prime suspects, surnamed Chen and Li, planted cannabis in the remote hilly areas of Shandong, learned how to manufacture drugs and later sold them through the Internet, police said.
The case is still under investigation.
Smuggling, trafficking, transporting and manufacturing narcotic drugs can lead to capital punishment in China. |
