Dongping county officials said they plan to build the Yicheng town at the central Dongping Lake Port.

They stressed the importance of cultural characteristics during the planning and construction of the town.

As the town has rich water resources and cultural backgrounds, designers plan to make detailed function segments in the town and build streets that comply with the looks of China’s Song Dynasty (420-479).

A Song Dynasty painting called “Along the River during the Tomb-sweeping Festival”, which describes civil life at that time, inspired plans to recreate the scenes in reality.

As an important part of Dongping’s development, the construction of the Yicheng town is key for boosting tourism in the area.
