In Dec 2007, the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and the provincial government decided to build a provincial capital metropolis group centered on Jinan city.

As time passed, relations on the reform and development between Jinan city and six other cities – Dezhou, Taian, Liaocheng, Laiwu, Zibo and Binzhou – have grown closer. Jinan Daily Newspaper Group sent reporters to Dezhou, and today, the paper launched four special pages of “Jinan Metropolis Group -- Trip to Dezhou”. The pages detail the economic achievements and developments made in Qihe county, Yucheng city and Dezhou Economic Development Zone.
