In the next five years, the Shandong government hopes to increase its provincial per capita GDP to more than $10,000. Over 60 percent of its tax revenues would be used to improve people's livelihoods, Jiang Yikang said in a report to the Tenth CPC Congress of Shandong province that kicked off on May 24.
The past five years have seen Shandong's gross domestic product (GDP) register at an annual growth rate of 12.3 percent to 4.5 trillion yuan in 2011, provincial per capita GDP was $7,317 last year.
Its growing wealth has enriched the residents. Per capita disposable income of urban residents has increased to 22,792 yuan per year and net income of rural farmers reached 8,342 ($3601.14) yuan last year.
