"As Asia's only 'International Grape and Wine City' -- a title conferred by the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV), Yantai enjoys an enormous advantage in developing its wine industry," Zhang Jiangting, secretary-general of the Yantai municipal CPC committee said at the event's opening ceremony on July 5.
"Yantai has held the wine expo every year since 2007. We hope it will help more people conduct business in Yantai and make exchanges within the wine sector," Zhang said.
The three-day event showcased a wide range of products at 636 booths, including over 2,000 kinds of wine, brandy, whisky and rum. It also offered wine-related cultural and tourist products as well as wine brewing and storage equipment.
Other activities included Sitevinitech China, an international expo on technologies and equipment for growing grapes; winemaking; bottling and packaging; an international wine quality contest; a wine technology development forum; fine wine auctions; and wine-themed sightseeing and trade talks.
