The land and sea freight traffic project between China and Republic of Korea (ROK) is bringing convenience to commercial activities. According to statistics from Qingdao Customs, the cargo-handling capacity of Qingdao Port between China and South Korea has reached 3,000 tons.

Qingdao Port is the most important port for land and sea freight traffic between China and South Korea. The land and sea freight project is an important cooperative project between China and South Korea. Shandong province was appointed as the only pilot province in China for this project in 2010. The land and sea freight project started formally at the end of 2010. The first stage of drop-and-pull transport, whereby two cargo trailers carrying goods are transported by ro-ro passenger vessels to the other's territory and are then transported to the destination by local tractors, is currently underway.

Presently, five cities in Shandong province, including Weihai, Qingdao, Rizhao, Shidao and Longyan, have started drop-and-pull transport operations with Incheon, Pyeongtaek and other cities in South Korea. Yantai will launch the transportation model soon.

High-precision electronic products, high-value equipment and fresh agricultural products benefit from direct inbound and outbound transport. Qingdao Customs enhances the inspection and service to improve customs clearance. Fresh fish exported from Shandong can be served the next day in South Korea, while imported goods from South Korea to Qingdao can be sent to warehouses immediately.
