On August 20, the SAFEA's Foreign Experts Recommendation Meeting was held in Rizhao, Shandong province.

Zhang Jianguo, head of the SAFEA and vice-minister of human resources and social security, together with Yang Jun, secretary of the Rizhao CPC committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. The SAFEA's deputy head, Liu Yanguo, hosted the meeting. About 60 representatives attended the meeting, including Friendship Award winners on holiday in Rizhao, experts in the 1,000 Foreign Talents Scheme, members from the SAFEA's foreign experts recommendation group, and members from the Foreign Experts Bureau of Shandong and the human resources and social security bureau of Rizhao.

Zhang Jianguo spoke to participants about progress in foreign experts recommendation. He called on experts to give advice to problems encountered in China's development. Alistair Michie and Ted Tokuchi, specialist advisors from the foreign experts recommendation committee, talked about their experiences and feelings in providing recommendations.

Wei Jianing, researcher from the macroeconomics research department of the State Council's Development Research Center, gave a speech on new situations and issues in reform after the Third Plenary Session of 18th CPC Congress. Wei also had discussions about foreign experts recommendations with Chinese and foreign experts at the meeting.
