The municipal government of Qingdao, Shandong province signed a cooperation agreement with Dalian University of Technology, on Oct 12, giving the green light to construction work on an R&D site in Qingdao's Blue Silicon Valley, Qingdao Morning Post has reported.

The university will be joining Qingdao's New Energy Solutions Co in building the base, having already cooperated on the initial work and will go on to join it in equipment development and manufacturing, recycling of resources, advanced-equipment design, CAE software development, shipping, ocean engineering, fine chemicals, and brining in more professional personnel.

The university will also work with Qingdao's science and technology commission, the Jimo district government (where Blue Silicon Valley is located), and New Energy to establish a fund for innovation and entrepreneurships and the industrialization of technological research at the R&D base, the paper said, citing the Qingdao commission officials.
