An English language news website -- http://shandong.chinadaily.com.cn/yantai/ -- was launched on April 16, with sponsorship from Yantai city and chinadaily.com.cn.

The new site caters to the international community by providing detailed information on the city and the latest local news with a fresh perspective, with the aim of offering a window for foreigners to understand the city.
The channel carries eight major columns, including "News" with the latest news and developments, an "Economic Zones" column with industrial parks and investment opportunities, a "Travel" column with sights, hotels, travel agencies and transportation, as well as "Government", "Culture", “Living" and "International Exchanges". These show a full range of information on Yantai.
The website will be promoted on chinadaily.com.cn and Yantai's mainstream news websites. Annual page views are expected to reach 150 million.
In addressing the ceremony, Gao Anming, deputy editor-in-chief of China Daily, said that the website will help foreigners learn about the city, attract foreign investment, and boost Yantai's culture and tourism.
Liu Yanlin, director of Yantai's publicity department, noted that Yantai will take advantage of the English website to raise the city's profile and accelerate exchanges with foreign countries.
