Yantai city in Shandong province will launch an app providing real-time departure and arrival information for the 50 bus routes in the city.

The app, called "Yantai Public Transport", will offer real-time information on the city's bus lines, including routes, stops and updated arrival time. The app is expected to help reduce waiting times and optimize the travel time of passengers.

Zhang Xinyuan, who works in Laishan district, showed a strong interest in the new app. "I used to work late till 7 or 8 pm and often have to wait over 20 minutes for a bus. With the new app, I need not wait in the cold weather," he said.

The app is also good news for bus drivers. Xiao Wei, leader of the drivers on Bus Line 2 said, "In case of delay, some passengers may be angry with us. The smart app will enable passengers to know the exact arrival time of buses."

Moreover, the app can help the management authority better monitor the drivers.

The smart app is part of Yantai's smart city construction efforts, as the city aims to bring more convenience to locals.
