The traffic authorities in Yantai, Shandong province released a new smartphone application on May 11.

The app, entitled "Yantai Traffic Police", features five functions including traffic information, traffic violation inquiry, traffic camera map, Q&A and fast claim settlement for traffic accidents.

The traffic information offers useful information regarding traffic laws and regulations, vehicles and regulatory actions of traffic police. The traffic violation inquiry function enables drivers to inquire about their prior traffic violation convictions and the fast claim settlement function helps drivers get familiar with the claim settlement procedure to save time. The Q&A function allows users to report traffic problems and offer suggestions.

Yantai Traffic Police have proposed a number of new features to be added to the app at a later date. These include reminders of license renewals, online selection for plate numbers, registration for driving tests and voice broadcasts of real-time traffic conditions.
