The ninth cherry festival will take place in Fushan district of Yantai, Shandong province, on May 30, allowing tourists to enjoy the cherry-picking fun.
In addition to cherry picking, folk and art performances, this year's festival will feature a cherry-themed photography contest. The contest will invite mobile phone users to capture the local scenery, folk customs and local life during the festival.
Participants can sign up to the WeChat account "Fushan cultural tourism" and submit their photos. The photos will be collected from May 30 to June 30 and the results will be announced on July 20. The contest will include 55 prizes, including cash prizes for winners.
Fushan district is a main production area of Yantai cherries and has a planting history of over 140 years. Home to China's largest cherry plantation area and highest output of the fruit, Fushan has been recognized as the hometown of China's cherries.
