The Changdao Direct Sales Center for Imported Commodities went into service in Yantai, Shandong province, on May 26. It is the first direct sales center in Shandong to be set up outside of the customs special supervised areas.
The center supplies favorably-priced imported commodities from Europe, America, Japan and South Korea. Due to the goods being sold directly, the price of imported goods are 20 to 30 percent lower, on average, than in supermarkets and shopping malls.
All commodities in the center receive a qualification by customs and the quality supervision, inspection and quarantine department.
According to Wu Jizhuang, deputy head of Changdao county, the center will help increase per capita tourist consumption by 40 percent and is expected to further the development of Changdao's logistics, ecommerce and foreign trade.
