Buses in the city of Yantai, Shandong province will be capable of offering WiFi services to passengers within two months, according to officials speaking at a press conference on June 4.
The WiFi equipment has been co-developed by the Yantai Public Traffic Group Co, Yantai branch of China Unicom and Shandong Lushi Media Co. The technology will be installed in buses owned by Yantai Public Traffic Group Co - a leading passenger bus company that handles 80 percent of bus passenger volume in the city.
"Each bus installed with the equipment will allow 50 people to connect to the Internet wirelessly," said Shang Jingyu, vice-general of the Yantai branch of China Unicom.
"The WiFi equipment is still under the Internet speed test. A total of 1,380 buses from the Yantai Public Traffic Group Co will be installed with the equipment in two months," said a representative from the Shandong Lushi Media Co.
Passengers need to download an app and register an account before they are able to access the WiFi. |
