It was the 11th time that the 20,000-ton "Taisun" crane was put into use for the mating of a semi-submersible drilling rig. Taisun is a bridge crane with the largest lifting capacity in the world.
The new rig will be able to operate in seawater depths of up to 3,658 meters and drill to a depth of 15,240 meters. Equipped with a dual hydraulic drilling system, the rig's working efficiency will be improved by 30 percent compared with those with a single drilling system. It is the world's most advanced sub-submersible drilling platform with the deepest drilling depth of any rig, according to CIMC Raffles.

The rig is the first of two that are currently being built by CIMC for Frigstad. It will be delivered in August of next year; the other rig is still under construction.
"CIMC Raffles is a leading enterprise of deep-water semi-submersible rig construction. We are seeking to keep lasting cooperation ties with it," said Harald Frigstad, the president of Frigstad Offshore Ltd.
