A series of fruit picking activities in June has dramatically raised the tourism profile of Laishan district in Yantai, Shandong province.
Official data shows that in June, Laishan welcomed 21,000 tourists, generating tourism revenue of 450,000 yuan ($73,429).
During the second mulberry and cherry picking festival on June 6 and 7, some travel agencies and local media groups organized 11,000 visitors to experience the fun of fruit picking and tea frying. The raspberry picking activity on June 13 and 14 attracted 11,000 tourists and received revenue of 200,000 yuan.
The activities were a move to boost Laishan's agricultural tourism. |
