More than 60 young Chinese from Russia, Germany, the US, France and Australia participatd in a 21-day Root-seeking Summer Camp, which kicked off in Yantai University of Shandong province on July 21.
During the summer camp session, they are invited to visit famous scenic spots in Yantai such as Yantai Mountain and Penglai Pavilion, as well as learn traditional Chinese culture including folk dance, martial arts, calligraphy, magic, Peking Opera mask making, pottery making and Chinese food cooking. During the camp, they will also visit some local schools to communicate with Yantai students.
The activity is helping young overseas Chinese to appreciate Yantai's traditions and custom.
The Root-seeking Summer Camp was started in 1999 and has become an annual event to attract overseas Chinese children to visit China.
