A China-made deep-water, semi-submersible drilling rig called "COSLInnovator" won the honor of "Perfect Well," the first recognition delivered by Statoil, for COSLInnovator's excellent performance at the Troll oil field in the Norwegian North Sea.
The drilling rig, produced by the Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Ltd, started operation for its client Statoil, a leading energy company in oil and gas production, at the Troll oil field on November 8, 2012. Since then, it has drilled 15 wells and was honored by Statoil as a monthly best platform, twice.
"Perfect Well," set by Statoil, is an award for the rigs with best drilling operation performance. COSLInnovator won the first recognition, which is an epitome of China's strong potential in high-end equipment development.
The rig can operate in a seawater depth of up to 750 meters and drill to a depth of 7,500 meters with a maximum variable deck load of 4,000 tons. It features automation, easy maintenance and high security.
COSLInnovator has been produced in batch and the fourth rig of the same series started to serve in the South China Sea on July 2, 2015 while the fifth is under testing.
