Qingdao, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province, will hold the 2015 Qingdao China International Ocean Summit Forum in Blue Silicon Valley on Oct 29-30.

The event will invite more than 300 oceanographers and marine economy experts to discuss a range of issues such as the latest marine technologicy innovations, the Road and Belt Initiative, and financial services for the ocean-related industries, and provide suggestions for national development strategies.

Xinhua (Qingdao) International Information Center, a media platform co-founded by the Xinhua News Agency and the Shandong and Qingdao governments, will be the main sponsor for the event.

Apart from six sub-forums to be hosted, the summit organizers will also release the 2015 China Ocean Development Index and hold an opening ceremony for a national marine technology laboratory during the event.
