The cool autumn days seem to be pretty good for the coastal city of Yantai, Shandong province.
After a string of honors came to the city, the fame of Yantai spread, and the city is attracting a lot of tourists.
To name a few honors in recent times, the Haiyang tourism resort was designated as one of the first national tourism resorts; Changdao Island was honored as one of the 20 favorite island tour destinations for Chinese tourists in 2015; and Penglai scenic area was recognized as the Most Culturally Creative Tourism Resort.
Since the beginning of the year, the government authorities have planned 87 tourism projects with a total investment of 211.69 billion yuan ($33.32 billion). Promotion meetings have been held in Beijing, Tianjin and Xi'an to promote tourism cooperation with travel agencies.
Apart from launching tourism buses that feature tourism introduction in Chinese, English and South Korean and distributing leaflets, the city also focuses on smart tourism by launching tourism website and mobile client.
In the first half of 2015, the city welcomed 27.16 million tourists, generating tourism revenue of 32.22 billion yuan, up 9.04 percent and 12.41 percent respectively.
In addition, Yantai has become a hot spot for Taiwan visitors with many Yantai-featured tourism routes, such as wine tour and cherry-picking tour attracting them. Every year, more than 65,000 tourists from Taiwan are visiting Yantai.
