The 16th International Fruit, Vegetable and Food Exposition ended in Yantai, East China's Shandong Province on Oct 16.
The fair authorities informed that the four-day event attracted 58,000 visitors from neighboring cities including Qingdao, Weifang, Weihai, Jinan and Dalian, and the trading volume reached 230 million yuan ($36.11 million).
In addition to the exhibition of fruit, vegetable and food, the fair included an apple-eating competition and selection of "Fruit Kings" in which experts and visitors had to choose top 10 fruits based on their appearance, taste and quality. The fruit varieties covered apple, pear, jujube, peach and starfruit. The selection was aimed at helping quality fruits to promote their brands.
An agreement on setting up a direct-sale center for Taiwan agricultural products was also made during the fair. Taiwan is rich in fruit resources and Yantai is also known as the hometown of fruit. The agreement is expected to promote Taiwan's vegetable and fruit in the Chinese mainland, enhance the agriculture cooperation between the two sides and boost mutual development in food sector.
