More than 75,000 college graduates found jobs in the coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong province, in 2015, increasing by 4.5 percent compared with 2014, according to an employment report on graduates released on Jan 31.
The report shows that the city attracted a total of 8,500 graduates with either a masters or PhD degree last year, resulting in a year-on-year growth of 58.2 percent.
The city has enjoyed growth of over 50 percent in recruiting talents with an above-bachelor degree, in part due to government policies to entice graduates.
Tian Guangye, a PhD overseas returnee who works at electrical appliance manufacturer, Hisense, said Qingdao's regional advantage, mild climate and sound environment for innovation and entrepreneurship were the reasons that he chose the city to live and work in.
The report also shows that the West Coast New Area has become the hottest place for young graduates, with data showing that one in four graduates find the work in the new area.
Zhu Jun, vice HR director at Qingdao West Coast Development Group, said, "Since it was announced as a national new area by the State Council, West Coast is both in great need of and appealing for talented people." |
