18.52% rise in Yantai's tourism revenue during Spring Festival
2016-02-15

Yantai city in Shandong province received 2.27 million tourists during the 2016 Spring Festival holiday, generating tourism revenue of 1.92 billion yuan ($292.67 million), a year-on-year increase of 19.56 percent and 18.52 percent respectively, informed a tourism official.

The city welcomed visitors with over 80 tourism products and activities including temple fairs, lantern shows and original folk performances, helping them enjoy the festive atmosphere.

Apart from temples' blessing activities, visitors were attracted by Yantai's winter tourism products such as hot spring, skiing and wine tasting.

The launch of the Qingdao-Rongcheng high-speed railway - Shandong's first inter-city line - on Dec 28, 2014 had helped boost Yantai's tourism by linking the three coastal cities of Qingdao, Yantai and Weihai.

Notably, the booming tourism industry also stimulated consumption. Having New Year's Eve dinner at restaurants and shopping for the Spring Festival remained popular among locals.
