Yantai's postal business registered steady development in 2015. The business volume have reached 1.29 billion yuan ($197.05 million), a year-on-year growth of 29.21 percent. The express delivery volume amounted to 39.86 million, up 37.65 percent, informed an official.
The government left no stone unturned to back the industry and invested 2 million yuan to build 400 post stations in rural areas. The delivery service has covered the whole city as the main express companies built 326 service outlets and more than 300 self-service parcel pick-up machines in towns as well as villages.
The outcome of all these remains that Yantai's postal industry made a big stride during the Twelfth Five Year Plan (2011-2015). The postal business volume grew over 20 percent annually while the volume of express delivery business increased over 40 percent each year.
The growth rate was more than that of the city's GDP and service industry, said the official.
While in 2016, Yantai will accelerate the transformation of the express delivery business and speed up the development of cross-border e-commerce companies and delivery service of local agricultural products.
The city has also planned to accelerate the settlement of China Post Group's parcel transportation center in the city to attract more express companies to its logistics industrial park.
Furthermore, the port city will propel the development of e-commerce. As an e-commerce demonstration city and a pilot city for cross-border commerce, it will strengthen cooperation with business and financial departments, ports and customs to help cross-border e-commerce companies improve their express service.
The success of the city's cherries and apples' exports has also set a good example, which should be replicated and promoted. Yantai will encourage the development of express service to bring more agriculture products to urban areas, added the officer. |
