Qingdao plans to improve public services for tourists
2016-02-26

The tourism administration of Qingdao, the coastal city of Shandong province, recently announced a series of moves to improve its tourism public services, the Qingdao Morning News reported on Feb 25.

The steps include opening more free parks, museums and educational centers, setting free admission days for the public and providing free Wi-Fi coverage in 4A and 5A scenic spots.

According to the plan, Qingdao also aims to build 249 new public restrooms and renovate 454 existing ones at tourist destinations around the city by the end of 2016.

By 2020, various services including free Wi-Fi, audio-guided tours, and online bookings will become available at 4A level and above scenic spots and the city’s rural tourist attractions.

Meanwhile, Qingdao plans to add 100 tourism information centers across the city in the next five years, building a network covering airports, railway stations, metro stations, expressway service areas and 3A level and above scenic spots.

Qingdao will also improve its online tourism information network, taking advantage of social media to make it easier for tourists to find out more information about the places they visit.
