22 more sites included in Yantai's Intangible Cultural Heritage

Yantai has included another 22 sites and cultural projects into the city's Intangible Cultural Heritage list recently.

The port city enjoys a long history for being a national historic and cultural place. The cultural heritages and intangible cultural heritages in Yantai are characterized by rich varieties, wide distribution and unique features. Now it has 113 Intangible Cultural Heritage projects including 14 national-level, 33 provincial-level and 113 city-level ones. By the statistics, over 7,000 types of intangible cultural resources in 10 categories – folk literature, music, dance, drama, Chinese operatic art, acrobatics, Chinese traditional art, folk craft, Chinese medicine and folk customs have been registered so far.

According to the city's next five year plan drafted recently, the cultural industry is going to play an important role in its progress. The intangible cultural heritage is an integral part of "Wonderland Yantai" concept. The heritage is a cultural fossil tells the beautiful stories in city's history and carries the spirit of it.

In the hope to protect intangible cultural heritages, the city will put more efforts on cultural industries to push forward its development in the future.
