The local government for West Coast New Area plans to renovate 129 kilometers of coastline in the new area in the next three years, it was announced at a work conference on March 14.
The West Coast New Area of Qingdao, Shandong province, said it was taking a series of actions including demolishing unlicensed constructions, relocating farming projects, building promenades and expanding afforestation to recover the natural off-shore landscape.
With a total coastline of 282 kilometers, the new area boasts rich marine resources such as beaches, rivers, bays, reefs and islets.
According to the plan, the renovation project of the 70-kilometer coastline in Lingshan Bay National Forest Park and Langyatai Tourism Resort will be completed in 2016.
The whole project is expected to be completed by 2018. The new area will form a holiday resort featuring sightseeing spots, cultural exhibitions and an upgraded industrial area, leading the city in ecological protection and tourism development. |
